If you are in Egmond aan Zee, a visit to the beach is a must. Guests of ‘Hotel in Egmond’ can rent a beach wheelchair (electric or not) from bike rental company BikeMike in Hotel Zuiderduin, Zeeweg 52, 1931 VL in Egmond aan Zee.
With the Veloplus wheelchair bike from BikeMike, guests of 'Hotel in Egmond' can explore the three Egmonds, the surrounding dunes or the villages nearby.
Please note: The wheelchair bike is temporarily out of rental due to repairs.
The beach wheelchairs and the wheelchair bicycle from BikeMike can only be rented by guests of one of the accommodations of 'Hotel in Egmond'.
The (electric) beach wheelchair can be reserved via info@bikemike.nl or possibly by telephone via 072-7502030. The wheelchairs can only be picked up and returned at the location. BikeMike does not have a pick-up and/or delivery service.
Employees of Hotel Zuiderduin and BikeMike are not trained as healthcare providers and cannot provide assistance/support when getting in and out of one wheelchair to another.
Neither BikeMike nor Hotel Zuiderduin have a hoist. If you need a hoist, we recommend contacting Vegro, a company that specializes in equipment rental. They can help you reserve a hoist.
BikeMike does not have a free parking space when renting a beach wheelchair and/or wheelchair bike. Parking is possible on the street, please note: Paid parking applies in Egmond aan Zee:

BikeMike beach wheelchairs can be rented per half day, 09:00-13:00 or 14:00-18:00. You can also rent the beach wheelchair for a whole day, but in case of the electric version, the battery life must be monitored.
The regular (push) beach wheelchair (the Jutter) can be rented for €10.00 per half day. For the electric beach wheelchair (the Wombat) we charge €40.00 per half day. Payment can be made on site at BikeMike during pick-up and can be done in cash or by debit card.
When using the beach wheelchair, you can park your own wheelchair in a separate section of the parking garage.
During the high season we are open 7 days a week, all day long*. During the winter season different opening hours apply, namely between 10:00 and 12:00*. You can then rent/pick up the beach wheelchair and use it all day long if desired. In case of the electric version, the battery life must be monitored.
* Please note: There can always be unforeseen circumstances, so please visit the BikeMike website for current opening hours.
On days when BikeMike has adjusted opening hours, you can still return the beach wheelchair between 12:00 and 18:00. When renting, you will receive a tag that will give you access to the storage. You will be informed about this in detail when issuing. Should you still require assistance, the reception staff at Hotel Zuiderduin will be happy to assist you.

BikeMike offers 2 beach wheelchairs. The beach wheelchair, the Jutter, is equipped with special pneumatic tires, which makes it easier to move the wheelchair over the sand. The electric beach wheelchair, the Wombat, is equipped with two powerful electric motors, so that you can drive independently over the beach, taking into account the battery life.
The beach wheelchairs are primarily intended to reach the beach and enjoy some time there, not to drive for miles. It is good to know the following about the beach wheelchairs:
The beach wheelchair is only intended for use on the beach, not intended for rides in the dunes or on asphalt outside the route from BikeMike to the beach (+/- 200 meters).
BikeMike has the 'Veloplus wheelchair bike' with a range of +/- 25 kilometers. This is exclusively for rent for guests of 'Hotel in Egmond' and only suitable for regular wheelchairs, not for electric wheelchairs.
